Incremental rotary encoder delivering 2000 pulses per revolution with NPN open-collector output, 12-24 VDC supply and IP50 protection
The Autonics E50S8-2000-N-24 is an incremental rotary encoder built for position and speed feedback in automation systems. It suits engineers and maintenance technicians who need reliable pulse counting on motor shafts or conveyor lines. The NPN open-collector output works with standard PLC inputs and counters. Buyers who need absolute position data or a different output type should look elsewhere.
Resolution is fixed at 2000 pulses per revolution, which sets the smallest angular step the encoder can report. The control output uses an NPN open-collector stage powered from 12 to 24 VDC with a 5 percent ripple tolerance. Maximum response frequency reaches 300 kHz, and the mechanical limit is 5000 rpm. If the application demands higher resolution, a different voltage range or a push-pull output, this model will not fit.
The encoder mounts via an 8 mm shaft and connects through an axial cable, so alignment and cable routing are the main practical tasks. Starting torque is low at 70 gf·cm, reducing load on small shafts. The IP50 rating blocks dust but not water, so the unit must stay dry. Over-tightening the coupling or exceeding the 5000 rpm limit are the usual causes of premature failure.

Each full turn of the 8 mm shaft produces 2000 output pulses, giving a discrete position change every 1/2000 of a revolution.
The NPN output pulls the signal low and needs an external pull-up resistor; the 300 kHz ceiling caps the usable pulse rate, so cable length and noise margin must stay within that bandwidth.
The unit has an 8 mm diameter shaft, an axial cable exit, and an IP50-rated housing, so it needs a matching 8 mm coupling or bore and enough clearance for the cable run.
