The Autonics E50S8-2500-3-T-24 is an incremental rotary encoder built for motion-control systems that need precise shaft-angle data. It delivers 2500 pulses per revolution through a totem-pole output, operates on a 12-24VDC supply with 5% tolerance, and mounts via an 8 mm solid shaft with axial cable exit. The IP50 housing suits clean indoor environments such as packaging lines, conveyor drives or test rigs.

Sustained-load behaviour at 300 kHz response

At continuous speeds up to 5000 rpm the encoder maintains its 300 kHz maximum response frequency without missing pulses, so position data stays accurate during long production runs. Starting torque is limited to 70 gf·cm (0.00686 N·m), reducing mechanical drag on the driven shaft and limiting heat build-up in the bearings. The 5% ripple allowance on the supply rail ensures stable operation even when the DC bus carries typical switching-noise.

Straightforward axial-cable installation

The axial cable entry lets technicians route wiring along the motor axis, avoiding sharp bends that can fatigue conductors in tight cabinets. A single 8 mm shaft diameter matches common coupling bores, so alignment is usually achieved with a standard flexible coupling. The main installation risk is exceeding the IP50 rating — dust or coolant ingress will degrade the optical disk — so the unit must be mounted in a protected enclosure or sealed motor housing.
