Incremental rotary encoder delivering 3600 pulses per revolution with NPN open-collector output for 12-24 VDC systems
The Autonics E50S8-3600-3-N-24 is an incremental rotary encoder that converts shaft rotation into 3600 pulses per revolution. It operates on a 12-24VDC supply and uses an NPN open collector output stage. The unit features an 8mm solid shaft and an axial cable connection rated to IP50 protection.
Engineers designing servo loops, CNC axes or conveyor synchronisation will value the 300kHz response frequency and 5000rpm mechanical limit. Starting torque stays below 70gf.cm so the encoder adds minimal drag to high-speed spindles. Applications needing absolute position data or hollow-shaft mounting must select a different encoder type.
The fixed 3600P/R resolution sets the smallest detectable angular step for the control system. If the motion controller requires a higher or lower pulse count per turn, this model cannot be reconfigured and another variant must be chosen.

The 300 kHz maximum response frequency caps the usable pulse rate, so shaft speed and resolution must stay within this bandwidth to avoid missed counts.
The encoder has an 8 mm diameter solid shaft designed for axial cable mounting; a matching 8 mm bore coupling or hub is needed to connect it to the driven shaft.
Connect the NPN open-collector outputs to pull-up resistors tied to a 12 to 24 VDC supply within ±5 % ripple; the encoder draws power from the same 12 to 24 VDC source.
