What this HDMI 2.1 switch does

The avedio links unit is a bi-directional HDMI 2.1 switch that lets you connect two sources to one display or one source to two displays, with only one screen active at a time. It is built for users who want to toggle between a game console, a streaming stick or a PC without swapping cables. A remote and a front button both change the active path.

Sustained signal behaviour

The switch passes 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at up to 144 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz, and it supports VRR, Dynamic HDR, HDCP 2.3 and Dolby Vision. Stable 4K at 120 Hz requires a certified HDMI 2.1 cable built with 30 AWG oxygen-free copper conductors kept to two metres or less; longer or lower-grade cables may cause flicker or signal loss. The aluminium housing helps dissipate heat during extended sessions.

Check your cables and devices first

You must supply your own HDMI cables because none are included. Verify that every source and display actually implements HDMI 2.1 and that the cables meet the 30 AWG OFC specification if you target 4K at 120 Hz. The switch is plug-and-play with no drivers, but ARC audio return will only work if both the source and the sink support it.

Questions about this item

Does the avedio links 8K HDMI 2.1 Switch generate any noise or heat during continuous all-day operation?

The aluminium enclosure passively dissipates heat from the smart chip, and with no moving parts the unit runs silently at its .159 kg weight.

Which cables must I already own to connect two sources and one display to this bi-directional switch?

You need three certified HDMI 2.1 cables with 30AWG oxygen-free copper conductors, each kept within 2 metres for reliable 4K@120Hz or 8K@60Hz signals.

Will my older 1080P@240Hz monitor work alongside a new 4K@144Hz display when toggled through this switch?

Yes, the switch is backward compatible and supports 1080P@240Hz, 4K@60Hz/120Hz/144Hz and 8K@60Hz on either port, one screen at a time.
