Product Identity

Avery Air Dry Clay is a 5-pound bucket of blue modelling material supplied new in a single bottle. It is intended for sculpting, crafting and school projects where a kiln or oven is unavailable. The clay air-dries to a hard finish that can be sanded, carved and painted with standard craft supplies. Suitable for classrooms, group activities and home decor work.

Installation & Common Issues

No installation is required; simply open the bucket, knead the clay until pliable and begin shaping. The most frequent problem is premature drying if the container is left unsealed, which makes the material crumbly and difficult to rehydrate. Overworking very dry pieces can cause surface cracking, so keep unused portions covered with a damp cloth during long sessions.

Pre-Purchase Checks

Verify that a non-toxic formulation is not required for your setting, as the product is not labelled nontoxic. Confirm the 5-pound quantity matches the scale of your planned projects and that blue is the desired base colour before painting. Ensure storage space is available for the bucket and that the environment is not excessively hot, which could accelerate unwanted hardening.

Questions about this item

How can I tell the clay has finished drying and is ready to paint?

The clay air dries naturally to a hard finish; once it feels solid and cool to the touch with no damp spots, it can be sanded, carved and painted.

What comes in the bucket and do I need any extra tools or supplies?

The bucket contains 5 lb of blue air dry clay only; paints, markers, glue, gems, glitter, buttons and sculpting tools are sold separately.

Which version of this clay should I choose for a classroom needing bulk supply?

This single 5 lb bucket in blue is the only version listed; order multiple buckets to cover larger groups or longer programmes.
