Two-computer DVI KVM

The Avocent SwitchView 100 lets one keyboard, mouse and single DVI-I monitor control two USB-connected computers. It is built for operators who need to switch between a pair of desktops or servers without duplicating console hardware. The unit supports a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 on the shared display.

Stable console switching

Switching is handled by the front-panel button and does not rely on software drivers, so the console remains responsive even when one host is under heavy load or rebooting. USB 2.0 peripheral ports stay active during the transition, keeping keyboard and mouse input consistent across both connected machines. No external power adapter is mentioned in the specifications.

Check your ports and cables

Each computer must provide a USB 2.0 Type B port and a DVI-I video output that matches the 29-pin console connector. The switch ships with no cables, so you will need two USB A-to-B leads and one DVI-I cable for the monitor. Verify that both hosts can drive 2048 x 1536 over DVI-I before ordering.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the SwitchView 100 produce when switching between two computers all day?

The unit has no fan and draws power from the USB ports, so it runs silently and adds negligible heat to a desktop.

Which cables must I already own to connect two PCs and one DVI monitor to this KVM?

You need two USB Type-B to Type-A cables for the PC links and one DVI-I cable for the monitor; none are included.

Can I keep using a legacy keyboard and mouse that only have PS/2 plugs with the SwitchView 100?

The console ports are USB Type-A only, so PS/2 peripherals require an active USB-to-PS/2 adapter for each device.
