Secure 4-Port KVM Switch

The Avocent SC140-001 is a hardware KVM switch that lets one operator control four separate computers from a single keyboard, video monitor and mouse set. It supports video resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 and works with VGA through WUXGA and HDTV signal formats. US-designed firmware restricts the USB ports to keyboard and mouse human-interface devices only, blocking mass-storage or other peripherals. Intrusion detection adds a physical tamper-evident layer for high-security environments.

Suited For And Not Suited For

This unit suits administrators who need to manage four isolated systems without software agents and who require a hardware-enforced barrier against data leakage through peripheral ports. It is not suited for users who need to share USB storage, printers or other non-HID devices across the connected computers. It also does not fit setups that require more than four computer connections or digital video interfaces such as DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort.

2048 x 1536 Maximum Video Resolution

The switch passes analog video signals up to 2048 x 1536, which determines the sharpest image the connected monitor can display from any of the four sources. If the target systems output higher resolutions or rely on digital video outputs, this KVM will not deliver the native image quality. Verify that every source computer and the shared display operate within this analog limit before deploying the switch.
