Eight-port KVM with DVI and USB

The Avocent SC380-001 is an eight-port KVM switch from the SwitchView line. It provides nine DVI video ports and nine USB ports for connecting multiple computers to a single console. The unit weighs 9.00 lb and was first listed by the manufacturer in 2022.

Suited for multi-system DVI environments

This switch suits administrators managing up to eight DVI-equipped servers or workstations from one keyboard, monitor and mouse. It is not for users who need HDMI, DisplayPort or VGA video inputs. It is not for setups requiring more than eight computer connections.

Steady operation for constant switching

The hardware is built for continuous use in server rooms and labs where operators switch between systems throughout the day. Its port count and weight indicate a rack-mountable chassis designed for sustained availability rather than occasional desktop use.

Questions about this item

What cables do I need to connect each of the 8 computers to the 9 DVI and 9 USB ports on this SC380-001?

You need 8 sets of DVI video cables plus USB-A to USB-B cables — one set per computer — to use all 8 computer connections.

Can I keep my existing PS/2 keyboard and mouse when switching to this 8-port SwitchView KVM?

This unit provides 9 USB ports for console and peripheral connections; PS/2 devices would require active USB-to-PS/2 adapters not included with the switch.

How do I confirm the SC380-001 is switching video and USB correctly across all 8 ports after setup?

Use the front-panel port LEDs — each active computer connection lights its corresponding indicator when that channel is selected.
