Capacity and interface

The Avolusion PRO-G1 is an 8TB desktop external hard drive that connects through a USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C port. It is built for Windows or macOS users who need to add large amounts of storage without opening their computer. The drive spins at 7200RPM and includes a built-in USB hub for attaching extra peripherals.

Host requirements

Verify that your Windows PC or Mac has an available USB-C or USB-A port compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 2 or the older USB 3.0 standard. On macOS the drive must be reformatted to APFS before it can be used. No internal installation or additional drivers are required for either operating system.

Thermals and power

A fan-less aluminium chassis keeps the drive silent during normal operation while passively dissipating heat from the 7200RPM mechanism. Power is drawn entirely from the host USB connection, so no separate mains adapter is needed. The enclosure remains cool to the touch under typical backup and file-transfer workloads.

Questions about this item

Does the Avolusion PRO-G1 8TB drive ship with the USB-C cable and power adapter, or must I buy them separately?

The drive includes a USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C cable and an external power adapter in the box, so no extra purchases are required for basic operation.

Should I choose the 8TB model or a different capacity for video editing backups?

This listing is the 8TB model only; after formatting expect roughly 7TB usable, which suits large video project archives.

What does the 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 rating mean for real-world file transfers on my 7200RPM drive?

The 10Gbps interface ceiling exceeds the 7200RPM mechanism, so sustained copies will be limited by the drive’s own throughput rather than the port.
