Avolusion PRO-H1 12TB external drive

The Avolusion PRO-H1 is a desktop external hard drive built around a 12TB enterprise-class mechanism spinning at 7200 RPM. It connects through a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port and arrives pre-formatted in exFAT for immediate use with Windows, macOS or Xbox consoles. The white chassis uses a fan-less design for silent operation.

USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface at 10Gbps

The single specification that determines compatibility is the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface running at 10Gbps. Your host must provide a USB Type-A or Type-C port that supports this speed to obtain the full transfer rate. Older USB 3.0 or 2.0 ports will work but limit throughput to their own maximum.

12TB capacity with 256MB cache

Twelve terabytes of raw space and a 256MB cache comfortably hold large game libraries, media collections and full system backups. The 7200 RPM enterprise drive is rated for 24/7 operation, so sustained writes such as daily scheduled backups stay within its design envelope. Very high-throughput workloads such as uncompressed video capture may exceed the sustained transfer capability of a single mechanical drive.

Questions about this item

What real-world transfer speed does the USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) interface cap at for this 12TB drive?

The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface supports up to 10Gbps, so the 7200 RPM enterprise drive inside can sustain its full sequential throughput without being bottlenecked by the port.

How much cache does the internal 7200 RPM enterprise drive provide for burst workloads?

The built-in enterprise hard drive includes 256MB of cache to smooth out burst reads and writes during backup or game-load sequences.

Does the white desktop enclosure need any extra mounting hardware to sit on a desk?

No, the fan-less chassis is a complete standalone unit — just place it on a flat surface, connect the USB cable and power adapter, and it is ready to use.
