PS5 storage expansion

The Avolusion PRO X White is a 2TB desktop external hard drive that connects via USB 3.0 and is designed to expand storage on a PlayStation 5 console. It adds capacity for game libraries without opening the console.

PS4 players and archivers

Owners who want to run PS4 titles directly from external storage or move PS5 games off the internal SSD to free space will benefit. Buyers who need to launch PS5 games straight from external storage should look at an officially licensed expansion card instead.

USB 3.0 interface

The drive uses a USB 3.0 connection for plug-and-play operation with the PS5. This interface determines transfer speed for moving games between the external drive and the console internal SSD.

Questions about this item

Does the Avolusion PROXWH-2TB-PS5 include everything needed to connect to a PS5, or must a cable be purchased separately?

The drive uses a USB 3.0 interface for plug-and-play connection to the PS5; the supplied cable is the only connection required.

Is the 2TB capacity the only option for this PRO X model, or are other sizes available?

This specific model is offered in a 2TB capacity; other capacities would carry different model numbers.

How does the USB 3.0 speed affect moving PS5 games between the internal SSD and this external drive?

PS5 games must be copied back to the internal SSD before playing, and USB 3.0 makes that transfer much quicker than re-downloading.
