40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ Transceiver

The Axiom 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ Transceiver is a multi-mode optical module built for 40 Gigabit Ethernet data networking. It connects through a single MPO interface and conforms to MSA and RoHS standards. The unit measures .5 inches high, .7 inches wide and 2.9 inches deep with a weight of .22 lb.

Network builders needing 40G short-reach links

This module suits engineers deploying 40GBASE-SR4 links over multi-mode fiber in compatible Cisco equipment. It is not for operators who require single-mode fiber support, longer reach than the SR4 standard provides, or a different form factor such as CFP or SFP+.

MPO multi-mode 40GBASE-SR4 interface

The single MPO port carrying 40GBASE-SR4 over multi-mode fiber is the specification that decides fit; the host port must accept a QSFP+ transceiver with this exact optical interface.

Questions about this item

Does the Axiom 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ transceiver ship with any cables or must the MPO patch cord be purchased separately?

The transceiver is supplied as a standalone module; the MPO multi-mode patch cord required for 40GBASE-SR4 links is not included and must be sourced separately.

How do I confirm this QSFP+ module matches the Cisco QSFP-40G-SR4-S part I need to replace?

The module is built to the QSFP-40G-SR4-S specification, uses an MPO interface, supports 40GBASE-SR4 over multi-mode fibre and is MSA compliant for direct Cisco compatibility.

Will the 0.5-inch height and 2.9-inch depth fit the QSFP+ cages in my Cisco switch without clearance issues?

At 0.5 in high, 0.7 in wide and 2.9 in deep the module matches the standard QSFP+ form factor, so it seats correctly in any MSA-compliant Cisco cage.
