Axiom 10GBase-SR SFP+ Module

The Axiom 46C3449-AX is a plug-in SFP+ transceiver module built for 10GbE network links. It serves administrators adding or replacing short-range 10 Gbps fibre connections in compatible switches, routers or servers.

Hot-Plug Form Factor Changes Deployment

The plug-in module design allows insertion or removal without powering down the host equipment. This reduces service-window pressure when expanding port density or swapping a faulty optic in a live rack.

LC Duplex Connector and 10GBase-SR Optics

An LC duplex interface accepts standard multimode patch cords for runs inside the data centre. The 10GBase-SR specification defines the optical reach, so cable planning follows the published distance for this wavelength.

Questions about this item

Will the 46C3449-AX transceiver module need scheduled cleaning or replacement of optical interfaces?

The SFP+ transceiver module has no user-serviceable optical interfaces; dust covers protect the ports when cables are removed and no periodic cleaning interval is defined by the manufacturer.

What distance limit applies first when the 10GBase-SR link runs continuously at 10 Gbps?

The 10GBase-SR cabling type is rated for short-range multimode fibre, so the reach limit of the installed fibre cable appears before any transceiver duty-cycle restriction.

How much heat does the 46C3449-AX add to a switch chassis when it operates all day at 10 Gbps?

As a plug-in module the transceiver draws power from the host port and dissipates heat within the switch airflow; no separate cooling or power supply is required.
