Connects Check Point switches and routers at 100 Gbps using a 28 AWG passive twinax assembly
This three-metre twinax cable delivers 100 Gbps connectivity between switches and routers that accept QSFP28 modules. It is aimed at network engineers who need a cost-effective, short-reach link inside a rack or between adjacent racks. The cable arrives pre-coded for Check Point compatibility so it is recognised immediately by the host equipment. No external power or configuration is required.
Because the assembly contains no active circuitry it draws negligible power and generates no heat of its own. There are no fans, pumps or electronic components that could produce audible noise during operation. The passive construction also means the link imposes no additional thermal load on the surrounding equipment. Power consumption remains limited to the port electronics on each end.
Each end terminates in a standard QSFP28 plug that meets the multi-sourcing agreement for mechanical and electrical fit. Serialised part numbers eliminate identification conflicts when multiple cables are deployed in the same chassis. The rugged twinax jacket resists bending stress during routine patching and cable-management tasks. Compatibility extends to any MSA-compliant platform beyond the original Check Point environment.

Align each QSFP28 module with the switch port, push straight in until the latch clicks, then verify the link light; the step most often missed is forgetting to remove the protective dust caps before insertion.
Passive twinax cables have no active components, so they require no firmware updates or scheduled replacement; only inspect the connector ends for dust or bent pins if link errors appear.
The 3-metre passive design is rated for 100GBASE-CR4; the first practical limit is signal attenuation beyond the specified reach, which can cause bit errors if the cable is extended or bent tightly.
