B + W Filter Company

B + W 55mm Basic Soft Pro Filter #65-1102808 camera filter

SKU CH-NN69-0NF23

A 55 mm soft-focus filter that overlays sharp detail with diffuse halos for romantic portrait and landscape effects

  • Soft romantic portraits with sharp core detail preserved
  • Mini-lenslets create diffuse halos that open deep shadows
  • Highlights form shimmering aura without heavy blur
  • Reduces contrast and softens backlight fringes naturally
  • Precision plano-parallel glass disc ensures optical clarity

55mm Soft Focus Filter

The B + W 55mm Basic Soft Pro Filter attaches to lenses with a 55mm thread to add a controlled soft-focus effect. It is designed for photographers who want a gentle, romantic look in portraits or landscapes without losing core image sharpness.

Mini-lenslet Diffusion

Small mini-lenslets distributed randomly on a plano-parallel glass disc scatter light to overlay the sharp image with hazy halos. This opens deep shadows and softens backlight fringes while highlights form a shimmering aura rather than blurring completely.

55mm Thread Mount

The filter fits only lenses that accept a 55mm screw-in thread. It will not work on larger or smaller diameters without a step-up or step-down ring, which is not included.

Questions about this item

Will the 55mm threads fit my existing 55mm lens?

Yes, the filter uses a standard 55mm thread that matches any lens with the same diameter.

How can I confirm the soft-focus effect is working after I attach it?

Take a test portrait; skin blemishes should appear gently covered while eyelashes stay sharp, and highlights show a subtle shimmering halo.

Does the box include a protective case or do I need to buy one separately?

The package contains only the 55mm Basic Soft Pro filter; a storage pouch or case is not included and must be purchased separately.
