Connects Nikon Z cameras to Astro T-2 and S52 dovetail systems for secure astrophotography mounting
The Baader Planetarium Wide T-Ring connects a Nikon Z mirrorless camera to Astro T-2 and S52 dovetail systems. It provides a secure, wobble-free bayonet fit that prevents light leaks and maintains alignment for astrophotography. An included Allen key and adapter rings make the mechanical setup quick and straightforward.
This unit adds an S52 dovetail alongside the standard T-2 thread, letting you reach wider apertures without swapping parts. The jump is worth it when you plan to use M48, M68 or UFC filter changers on the same camera body. It replaces separate step-down rings and dedicated camera-side adapters.
The precision-machined bayonet lock holds the camera rigidly during extended tracking sessions, avoiding the micro-shifts that blur deep-sky frames. Optional S52-to-M48 (#2958552) and S52-to-M68 (#2458252) adapters thread directly onto the dovetail without adding flex. The UFC S52 camera-adapter (#2459119) mounts filters in front of the sensor while preserving the same rigid stack.

The Wide T-Ring adds an S52 dovetail directly behind the T-2 ring, so the camera sits at the standard flange distance and clears the grip on all Z-mount bodies.
Use the short arm of the supplied Allen key on the T-2 lock ring; the long arm is for the S52 dovetail screws, and over-torquing the T-2 side is the common mistake.
The S52 dovetail is stainless steel and rated for repeated adapter changes; replace it only if the dovetail faces show visible wear or the locking screws no longer hold firm.
