Red clamshell holds eight AA alkaline cells to power compatible KNG series radios
This AA battery clamshell fits KNG P150, P150S, P400, P400S, P500, P800 and KNG2 series two-way radios. It replaces the Bendix King KAA0120 accessory for field operations. The red case provides visible identification in marine or automotive environments. Operators who need rechargeable packs or proprietary battery systems cannot use this clamshell.
The clamshell holds eight AA alkaline cells to power compatible radios. No internal charging circuitry is present; batteries must be replaced when depleted. Power draw and runtime depend entirely on the radio model and transmit duty cycle. Users requiring hot-swap capability or integrated fuel gauges will not find those features here.
Under continuous transmit cycles the alkaline cells deliver voltage until exhaustion without thermal shutdown. The clamshell contains no active cooling or temperature monitoring. Extended high-power use will drain the eight cells faster than intermittent receive duty. Buyers needing multi-shift endurance without battery changes should consider alternative power solutions.

Open the clamshell, insert eight AA alkaline cells matching the polarity markings, close the latch until it clicks, then attach the pack to the radio’s battery rail — the step most often missed is verifying that all eight cells face the correct direction before latching.
The clamshell itself requires no scheduled service; only the eight AA alkaline cells need replacement when runtime drops, and the 18-month free-replacement warranty covers the case if it cracks or the latch fails.
Alkaline chemistry delivers lower sustained current than rechargeable packs, so voltage sag under continuous transmit is the first limit you will hit, reducing talk time before the cells are fully drained.
