Handheld VHF Radio 5W 128ch

The BatteryJack DSR-590 is a portable VHF two-way radio with 5 watts of output power and 128 programmable channels. It operates across the 136-174MHz frequency band for marine or outdoor communication. The all-metal chassis houses a 1400mAh Li-ion battery and includes a charging station. This unit suits users needing a compact, licence-appropriate handheld for short-range voice contact.

Verify VHF licensing and antenna fit

Before ordering, confirm that VHF operation on 136-174MHz is permitted for your intended use and region. The radio uses a 50-ohm antenna connection and a 2-pin Kenwood-style audio accessory jack. Check that any headset or speaker-mic you plan to use matches this connector type. Ensure the charging station voltage input matches your local mains supply.

Thermal and power profile in normal use

The 7.4V 1400mAh battery powers the 5W transmitter and the 0.5W audio amplifier during typical transmit and receive cycles. Adjacent-channel selectivity is rated at 65dB with audio distortion below 7 percent. The metal chassis acts as a passive heatsink during extended transmissions. No active cooling is fitted, so surface warmth may increase during long talk sessions.
