Drop Test Durability

The unit survives six drops from six feet onto all six sides without breaking or splintering and continues to power the radio. This rugged construction suits mobile installations where the microphone may be knocked from its hanger or handled roughly in a vehicle.

Cable and Audio Quality

Strong, flexible cables resist fatigue from repeated flexing during daily use. The microphone delivers clear sound performance and remains comfortable to hold during extended operating sessions.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the MH-42B6JS speaker mic to my Yaesu FT-7800R?

Plug the mic connector into the front-panel microphone jack on the FT-7800R until it clicks; the step people miss is not pushing it in fully, which leaves the PTT dead.

What part of the MH-42B6JS will need replacement first with daily use?

The coiled cable and its strain relief see the most flexing; expect to replace the cable assembly if the insulation cracks or the PTT button becomes intermittent.

What limits how long I can transmit continuously with the MH-42B6JS on an FT-8800R?

The radio’s internal heat protection kicks in first during long transmissions; the mic itself is rated to survive repeated drops but does not set a duty-cycle limit.
