Ready-to-use pair for children

Each unit weighs 82 grams and measures 2.2 in by 1.1 in by 5.5 in, so small hands can hold them comfortably. A backlit LCD shows the active channel and battery level at a glance.

Families wanting simple push-to-talk

The radios suit parents and children who need instant voice contact during outdoor games, neighbourhood walks or trick-or-treating without relying on mobile networks. They are not intended for users who require water resistance, extended range beyond 1 kilometer or compatibility with non-FRS equipment.

22 channels with 121 privacy codes

The 121 CTCSS/DCS combinations give enough quiet codes to keep conversations separate on busy shared frequencies. Range reaches about 1 kilometer in typical conditions, so the pair covers a playground, campsite or street block but will not bridge longer distances or penetrate dense buildings.

Questions about this item

What type of batteries do the RT388 radios require to operate?

The RT388 walkie talkies run on three AAA batteries per unit, which are not included in the package.

Will the RT388 pair communicate with my older FRS walkie talkies on channel 12?

Yes, the RT388 is compatible with other FRS radios when both are set to the same channel and matching CTCSS or DCS privacy code.

How can I confirm the RT388 radios are transmitting clearly after setup?

Check the LCD screen for channel and battery status, then press the push-to-talk button and listen for the auto-squelch to deliver clear voice audio without background noise.
