It replaces the FT-1500, FT-1802, FT-1900, FT-2600, FT-2800, FT-2900, FT-3000, FT-7100, FT-7800, FT-8100, FT-8500, FT-8800 and FT-8900 series radios. The unit is built to withstand six drops from six feet onto all sides without damage.

Suits operators needing a rugged hand microphone

This microphone suits mobile radio operators who want a durable hand-held microphone for the listed Yaesu models. It is not for users whose radio uses a different connector pin count or wiring standard. Buyers needing a desktop microphone or a headset interface should look at a different accessory type.

Verify your radio model

Check that your transceiver appears in the supported model list above and uses a six-pin microphone socket. Confirm the microphone wiring matches your radio's pinout, as some Yaesu models share connectors but differ electrically. Ensure you have the correct mounting location for the microphone clip in your vehicle.

Questions about this item

Which Yaesu mobile radio do I need for the MH-42B6JS 6-pin plug to fit?

The microphone fits Yaesu models FT-1500, FT-1802, FT-1807, FT-1900, FT-2600, FT-2800, FT-2900, FT-3000, FT-7100, FT-7800, FT-8100, FT-8500, FT-8800 and FT-8900 series.

Will the MH-42B6JS work on an older FT-2900R that I already own?

Yes, the FT-2900R is listed among the compatible radios, so the 6-pin connector will mate and the microphone will function.

Press the PTT button and speak; clear transmit audio on a monitoring radio and clear receive audio from the speaker show the unit is working.
