DTMF microphone for Yaesu radios

The BatteryJack MH-48A6J is a DTMF microphone built for a wide range of Yaesu mobile transceivers. It suits operators who need touch-tone signalling for repeater access or remote control functions. The unit replaces the original hand microphone on compatible models. It is intended for mobile or base station installations.

Compatible Yaesu model numbers

This microphone fits the FT-1500, FT-1802, FT-1807, FT-1900 and many other Yaesu mobiles including the FT-2600, FT-2800, FT-2900, FT-3000, FT-7100, FT-7800, FT-8100, FT-8500, FT-8800 and FT-8900 series. Buyers must verify their exact model number against this list before ordering. It will not work with radios that use a different connector or pin-out.

Installation and common issues

The microphone plugs directly into the radio’s front-panel jack with no tools required. The coiled cable is flexible and resists tangling during daily use. The housing is rated to survive six drops from six feet onto all sides without damage. Operators who need a different connector type or a non-DTMF handset should choose another accessory.

Questions about this item

How does the DTMF keypad on the MH-48A6J work when I am transmitting on my FT-2800M?

Press the numbered keys to send tone sequences for repeater access or remote control while the push-to-talk button is held down.

What connector does the MH-48A6J use to plug into a Yaesu FT-8900R?

It uses the standard Yaesu 8-pin modular microphone connector found on all listed mobile transceivers.

Will the coiled cable reach comfortably from the dash mount of my FT-7800 to the driver's seat?

The strong, flexible coiled cable extends far enough for typical vehicle installations and retracts neatly when not in use.
