Cable basics

This Belkin Samsung Gala cable pack supplies two USB-C to USB-C cords, each three feet long, finished in orange metal braid with nickel-plated zinc alloy plugs. They are built for owners of Google Pixel phones and Samsung Galaxy models who want a durable, pet-resistant charging lead that also handles data sync.

Build fit

Both ends carry the same USB-C connector, so a USB-C wall charger or power bank is required; the cables do not work with legacy USB-A ports. They deliver up to 40 watts at five volts and support 20 volt negotiation for higher-power adapters, while data moves at up to 480 megabits per second. Video output is not supported, so external displays need a different cable.

Thermals noise power

The metal braid and laser-welded connector shields are rated to withstand 15 kilogram connector loads and 50 kilogram cable loads, with a bend life exceeding 20,000 cycles at 95 degrees. No active cooling or fan is present, so operation is silent and the cords add negligible heat to a charging setup. Power draw follows the attached charger and device negotiation up to the rated limits.

Questions about this item

How much power does the cable actually deliver during a long charge session?

The cable handles up to 60 W with a compatible PD charger, though the spec sheet also lists a 40 W maximum.

Does the metal braid get hot or noisy when the cable runs all day?

The metal braid is passive, so it produces no noise and does not become noticeably warm during extended use.

What charger must I already own for these cables to work?

You need a USB-C PD wall charger rated for at least 30 W, 45 W or 60 W to enable fast charging.
