Converts a 40 pin IDE port to a 2.5 inch Sata connection with 7+15Pin and 4 pin power for ATA 133 100 devices
This adapter converts a 40-pin PATA/IDE motherboard header into a 7+15-pin SATA interface so you can attach 2.5-inch SATA hard drives, SSDs or optical drives. It targets builders restoring older systems that lack native SATA ports but still have a free IDE connector and a spare 4-pin power lead. No driver installation is required; the device is passive and draws power directly from the 4-pin connector.
Plug the 40-pin male connector into the motherboard IDE socket and attach a standard 4-pin Molex power cable to the onboard power port. The 2.5-inch SATA drive then mounts directly onto the 7+15-pin female header without extra cables. This arrangement frees a 3.5-inch drive bay because the compact adapter and drive sit flush against the motherboard header instead of occupying a front-access cage.
The bridge handles both ATA 133 and ATA 100 transfer rates, letting connected SATA devices operate at the maximum speed the legacy IDE bus allows. Compatible devices include CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-RAM and hard drives that present a SATA interface. Because the adapter is purely electrical, it adds no software layer and imposes no operating-system constraints beyond what the host IDE controller already supports.

The adapter bridges the drive to an ATA 133 or ATA 100 interface, so sustained throughput cannot exceed the parallel IDE bus ceiling.
The unit has no active cooling and no moving parts, so it adds negligible heat and stays silent under continuous use.
A standard 4-pin Molex power lead from the power supply is required to feed the adapter.
