throw 4K laser projector

The BenQ LK936ST is a new short-throw laser projector built for business presentations, education and home entertainment. Its 0.81 to 0.89 throw ratio lets it fill a large screen from a short distance, making it practical for smaller rooms and golf simulator setups. The laser light source is rated for 20000 hours in normal mode, reducing maintenance compared with lamp-based models.

Brightness and connectivity limits

At 5100 ANSI lumens the image stays visible in rooms with some ambient light, but very bright spaces may still wash out contrast. Two HDMI 2.0b inputs with HDCP 2.2 support 4K UHD at 60 Hz, while a single USB Type-A port supplies 2.0 A for streaming sticks. Network control uses a wired RJ-45 link; no wireless capability is included.

Throw ratio decides fit

The fixed 0.81 to 0.89 throw ratio is the single specification that determines whether this projector fits your space. Measure the distance from lens to screen and the desired image width; if the ratio falls outside this narrow range you will need a different lens or mounting position.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 5100 lm laser model or a lower-lumen version for a bright room?

The LK936ST delivers 5100 ANSI lumens from a laser light source rated 20000 hours in normal mode, so it stays bright in well-lit spaces without lamp replacements.

What does the 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio actually show on screen?

That dynamic contrast figure means the projector can render deep blacks alongside bright highlights, giving visible shadow detail in 4K UHD content.

What does HDMI 2.0b with HDCP 2.2 on both inputs cap in practice?

Both HDMI ports handle 4K UHD 3840×2160 at 60 Hz with protected 4K streams, which is the maximum the spec supports.
