12-inch bar clamp with 5½-inch throat depth and steel-plastic handle for secure workpiece holding
The Bessey Tools 2400S-12 is a regular duty S series bar clamp built for welding and fabrication tasks. Its 12 in jaw opening and 5 1/2 in throat depth provide secure grip on workpieces during assembly. The steel and plastic handle features a swivel morpad for comfortable operation. Nominal rail size is 1 11/32 x 1/2 in.
This clamp replaces smaller models when jaw opening exceeds 11 in or throat depth limits access to the workpiece. The jump is worth it when fabricating wider assemblies that require 12 in capacity and 5 1/2 in reach. The 1 1/4 x 2 3/8 pad type allows access to tighter spaces than standard pads. Overall length of 4 5/8 in keeps the tool manageable.
The clamp comfortably handles regular duty welding and fabrication clamping up to its 12 in opening. It runs out when applications demand heavy duty force beyond the S series rating or openings wider than 12 in. Weight of 6.8 units reflects its steel construction for durability. The HAWA material build supports repeated use in shop environments.

The 5 1/2 in throat depth provides ample room for the jaws to grip the workpiece without slipping off.
The swivel morpad adjusts to the workpiece angle; the common error is tightening before the pad sits flat, which reduces grip.
Replace the pads when the faces show wear, scoring or loss of grip that lets the workpiece shift under pressure.
