DIY Desk Extension Clamp Kit

This two-pack of C-clamps lets you add a custom wooden board to an existing desk for extra surface area. The hardware mounts without drilling and adjusts by hand tightening. It is intended for home-office users who want a simple, reversible way to expand their workspace.

Clamping Limits and Board Constraints

The clamps accept desks up to .47 inches thick and support boards no wider than 11.5 inches. Exceeding that width moves the centre of gravity too far out and can deform the clamps. The board must also be .47 inches thick if you want it flush with the desk surface.

Capacity and Practical Headroom

Each assembly holds a board weighing up to 5 lbs, with total capacity depending on how many clamps you install. The system handles a monitor, keyboard or light accessories comfortably. Heavier loads or wider boards will exceed the mechanical limits and risk instability.

Questions about this item

Should I use one clamp or both clamps from the 2 pack?

Both clamps are intended to be used together; the supplier notes the supported weight depends on the number of clamps you use.

What does the 11.5 inch width limit mean for my wooden board?

The board must not exceed 11.5 inches in width; a wider board moves the centre of gravity too far from the desk and can deform the clamp.

How does the .47 inch desk-thickness recommendation affect installation?

The C-clamps are designed for desks about .47 inches thick; matching that thickness also lets the added board sit precisely flush with the desktop.
