What the YD-3309D does

The YD-3309D is a three-in-one live fibre identifier that combines a 10mW visual fault locator, an optical power meter and a tone detector in one hand-held unit. It works across 800 to 1700nm and can show signal direction and relative core power without interrupting traffic. The built-in VFL emits red light to trace faults up to 15 kilometres along the link.

Fibre sizes and connectors to verify

Before ordering, confirm that the fibres you test are 250µm, 900µm, 2mm or 3mm, because the metal gripper accepts those diameters without swapping adapters. The OPM section uses a 2.5mm universal connector, so patch cords must match that interface. The instrument detects 270Hz, 1kHz and 2kHz tones, so the network under test must carry one of those modulation frequencies for positive identification.
