USB 2.0 extender for long cable runs
The Bipra VAD-2010 extends a USB device up to 60 metres using Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable. It complies with USB 2.0 and supports high-speed, full-speed and low-speed devices. A master unit and a remote unit are included for immediate deployment.
Master and remote units with RJ45 links
The master unit connects to the host via a 1.0 foot built-in USB male cable and an RJ45 jack. The remote unit provides a USB female port and its own RJ45 jack. The master draws bus power while the remote unit requires a DC 5V, 2A supply.
Check Cat cable and remote power before ordering
You need a Cat 5e or Cat 6 patch cable up to 198 feet for the link between units. Ensure a power outlet is available for the remote unit's DC adapter. Verify the operating range of 0 to 40 degrees centigrade suits the installation site.

Questions about this item
Does the USB 2.0 interface cap real-world throughput at 480 Mb/s?
Yes, the extender is compliant with the USB 2.0 specification and supports high-speed (480 Mb/s), full-speed (12 Mb/s) and low-speed (1.5 Mb/s) devices.
What physical cable and space are required to reach the 60 metre limit?
You need a standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 network cable between the master and remote units; the master unit includes a 1.0 foot built-in cable and the remote unit requires a DC 5V, 2A power adapter.
How is the extender installed and which step is often missed?
Connect the master unit to the PC, link both units with a Cat 5e/6 cable, attach the USB device to the remote unit, then plug the remote unit into its DC 5V, 2A power supply — the separate power step is the one users forget.
