A 5-metre OM4 multimode patch cable with LC duplex connectors, 10-Gbps compliant per IEEE 802.3ae and backwards compatible with OM1, OM2 and OM3
This OM4 multimode patch cable carries 10-Gbps traffic per IEEE 802.3ae and supports an upgrade path to 40-Gbps and beyond. It uses 50/125 µm fibre optimised for 850-nm VCSEL and LED sources. LC/LC connectors give a secure duplex link for data-centre and campus runs.
The cable ships with a plenum-rated jacket approved for air-handling spaces, removing the need for conduit in many building codes. Backwards compatibility with OM1, OM2 and OM3 plant lets you extend older links without recabling. Red colour coding simplifies polarity and circuit identification in dense panels.
At 5 m (16.4 ft) the assembly suits adjacent rack or row connections where longer trunks would add slack. OM4 bandwidth limits modal dispersion to the distances defined by the 802.3 standard for 10-Gbps and 40-Gbps Ethernet. Runs beyond the standard reach require single-mode fibre or active equipment not covered by this cable.

No — it is a passive fibre patch cord with no active electronics, so it produces no heat and draws no power regardless of data rate or duty cycle.
Both ends use standard LC duplex connectors, so each device needs an LC port or an LC-compatible transceiver module.
Yes — it is backwards compatible with OM1, OM2 and OM3 fibre, so it can connect directly to existing OM3 panels and OM2 trunks without adapters.
