Black Box Corporation

Black Box Corporation IC714A-V35-R2 G.703 V.35 64Kbps Codirectional Converter

SKU CH-0ZSH-3BZY7 MPN IC714A-V35-R2

A G.703 codirectional converter with V.35 interface operating at selectable 48, 56, or 64 kbps over 8000 ft

  • Connects V.35 and G.703 networks at 64 kbps
  • Diagnose links with local and remote digital loopback tests
  • Runs 8000 ft over standard 24-gauge copper wire
  • Selectable 48, 56 or 64 kbps speeds suit legacy links
  • Six status LEDs show power, data, loss and test state

G.703 V.35 Codirectional Converter

The Black Box IC714A-V35-R2 converts between G.703 codirectional interfaces and V.35 DTE connections at 48, 56 or 64 kbps. It serves network engineers who need to link legacy synchronous equipment over 4-wire full-duplex circuits.

DB25 M/34 terminal-block connectivity

The unit provides a DB25 female, an M/34 female and a 5-screw terminal block for the G.703 side. Six front-panel LEDs show power, receive data, transmit data, loss of signal, test mode and error status for immediate link verification.

8000 ft range on 24-gauge wire

Maximum reach is 8000 ft (2438.4 m) over 24-gauge cable at the selected bit rate. Diagnostics include local digital loopback, local analog loopback (V.54 Loop 3), remote digital loopback (V.54 Loop 2) and a 511-bit V.52 BERT for circuit qualification.

Questions about this item

What diagnostics can I run on the IC714A-V35-R2 to verify the link?

You can initiate local digital loopback, local analog loopback (V.54 Loop 3), remote digital loopback (V.54 Loop 2) and a 511-bit V.52 BERT test from the front panel.

Which speed setting on the converter will limit throughput first during continuous operation?

The user-selectable rate caps at 64 kbps, so sustained traffic cannot exceed 64 kbps regardless of line conditions.

How much heat or noise does the unit produce when powered 24/7?

The converter runs from 115/230 VAC with no fan, so it generates minimal heat and operates silently.
