19-inch 8-port KVM module

The Black Box KVT419A-8UV-R2 is a 19-inch rackmount KVM switch that controls up to eight computers from a single keyboard, video and mouse console. It accepts both USB and PS/2 peripheral connections on the console side. This module suits server-room administrators who need dense, local access to multiple hosts.

VGA video and dual peripheral interfaces

Video is carried over standard VGA links, so maximum resolution and refresh rate are limited by the analogue VGA specification and the attached cables. Console peripherals may be USB or PS/2, but the switch does not translate between them; each connected computer must match the chosen console type. No on-screen display or hot-key switching method is detailed in the supplied data.

Eight-computer capacity with industrial EMC rating

The unit supports eight attached computers and is housed in an industrial-strength plastic chassis rated to IEC 61000-Part 6-2 for electromagnetic compatibility in industrial environments. It includes a DIN-rail mounting kit for flexible installation. Power supplies are not included and must be sourced separately.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the USB or PS/2 version for my servers?

The unit includes both USB and PS/2 ports so you can connect a mix of legacy and current servers without choosing one version.

What does the 8-port label mean when the switch is installed in a rack?

It lets you control up to eight computers from a single 19-inch keyboard, monitor and mouse tray.

Does the VGA interface cap the resolution I can use?

The KVM passes VGA signals directly; the maximum resolution depends on the connected computers and monitor, not on the switch itself.
