4K DisplayPort KVM fiber extender

This Black Box KVXLCDPF-100 extends a single DisplayPort 4K source up to 32808.40 ft over fiber. It supports one local user and one computer with USB, headphone and microphone pass-through. The kit includes transmitter, receiver, two 5 VDC 2 A power supplies, USB Type A to B cable, DisplayPort cable and audio combo cable.

Distance and resolution limits

Maximum video resolution is 3840 x 2160 at the full 32808.40 ft reach. The link is a point-to-point wired fiber connection for one computer and one user; it does not switch between multiple systems. USB, audio and microphone signals share the same fiber path without added latency.

Rack-mountable 1U form factor

Transmitter and receiver each measure 0.83 in high, 3.27 in wide and 7.09 in deep and weigh approximately 13.28 oz. Both units fit a standard 1U rack space for dense installations. TAA compliance and WEEE RoHS certification meet government procurement requirements.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1U rack-mountable version or a desktop form factor for this extender?

This model is only offered in a 1U rack-mountable form factor, so no desktop version exists to choose between.

What does the 3840 x 2160 resolution mean when the transmitter and receiver are connected in my rack?

It delivers full 4K video at 3840 x 2160 pixels across the fibre link without compression, so the remote monitor shows the same detail as a direct DisplayPort connection.

How far can the DisplayPort and USB signals actually travel over the fibre link?

The extender supports a maximum operating distance of 32808.40 ft, so keyboard, mouse, audio and 4K video all reach that length over a single fibre run.
