Compact Fast Ethernet media converter

The Black Box LHC002A-R4 is a two-port external media converter that bridges 100Base-TX copper and 100Base-SX fibre links. It suits network technicians extending a Fast Ethernet segment beyond standard copper reach.

Fits between switch and fibre run

One RJ-45 port connects to existing copper infrastructure while a duplex SC port links to multimode fibre up to 1.24 Mile. The 1.5 by 4.7 by 4.4 inch enclosure sits on a desk or shelf without rack rails, freeing rack space for other equipment.

Passive cooling keeps operation silent

With no moving parts the unit runs quietly in office or equipment-room environments. Power consumption stays modest for a 100 Mbps converter, so it draws little from the supplied adapter and adds minimal heat to the cabinet.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum link distance this converter supports over fibre?

The unit reaches 1.24 miles over 100Base-SX fibre using its duplex SC port.

How much heat does the external enclosure produce when running continuously?

No fan is present; the metal case passively dissipates the low power draw of the 100 Mbps circuitry.

Which cables and connectors must I provide to connect both sides?

You need one RJ-45 patch cord for the copper side and one duplex SC fibre patch cord for the fibre side.
