CATx DB9 Line Driver 4000 ft

The Black Box ME890A-R2 extends RS-232 connections over standard CATx cabling up to 4000 feet. A local unit with a DB9 female connector configured as DCE pairs with a remote unit featuring a DB9 male connector configured as DTE. The system requires no setup or configuration and suits remote device control or data transfer between computers.

4000-foot range with hardware handshake

The driver passes TXD, RXD, RTS and CTS signals to support full-duplex transmission with hardware handshake. It comfortably handles serial links across large facilities where standard cables fall short. The fixed 4000-foot limit defines the maximum separation; longer runs exceed the specified range and are not supported.

Plug-and-play serial extension

Each end connects directly to a DB9 port without software drivers or dip switches. The local DCE and remote DTE pin-outs let the pair function as a transparent extension cable between two RS-232 devices.
