SC-to-LC single-mode patch lead

This OS2 9-micron single-mode fibre patch cable carries two fibres between an SC connector at one end and an LC connector at the other. The 6.56 ft yellow PVC jacket is rated OFNR for riser installations. It is suited to campus or data-centre links that require single-mode performance.

Duplex construction and yellow jacket

The duplex layout provides a transmit and a receive path in one assembly, simplifying patch-panel management. The yellow colour follows the standard single-mode coding, helping technicians identify the cable type at a glance. PVC sheathing meets OFNR flame requirements for vertical runs.

Single-mode distance and connector limits

Single-mode fibre supports much longer links than multi-mode, but the 6.56 ft length restricts this assembly to short patching tasks such as rack-to-rack or panel-to-equipment connections. SC and LC ferrules must be cleaned before mating; dirty end-faces raise insertion loss and can damage the polished surfaces.

Questions about this item

Will the SC or LC connectors need periodic cleaning or replacement?

The connectors are standard SC and LC ferrules; they only require occasional inspection and cleaning with a lint-free wipe and isopropyl alcohol if insertion loss rises.

What limits the link distance on this 6.56 ft OS2 single-mode patch cable?

The 9-micron OS2 fibre supports kilometres of reach, so the 6.56 ft length is far below any distance limit; attenuation and connector loss are the practical constraints.

Does the PVC jacket or duplex construction affect heat or power when the cable runs continuously?

The passive duplex cable carries only light, so it generates no heat and draws no power regardless of how long it remains in use.
