Gigabit PoE Media Converter

The Black Box LPS500A-MM-LC-R3 is a Gigabit Ethernet PoE media converter that connects 1000BASE-SX multimode fibre to copper UTP. It delivers power and data over a single CATx link up to 100 m. The unit is new and carries CE approval.

Extending copper beyond 100 m

When a copper run exceeds 100 m the converter bridges to multimode fibre. On 62.5/125-µm fibre at 160-MHz it reaches 220 m; at 200-MHz it reaches 275 m. On 50/125-µm fibre at 400-MHz it reaches 500 m; at 500-MHz it reaches 550 m. The jump is worth it whenever the copper distance limit is the bottleneck.

Build integration

The converter accepts 100-240 VAC at 47-63 Hz with a maximum draw of 24 W. It supports IEEE 802.3af PoE, 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T with auto-negotiation and Auto MDI-X. Link fault passthrough and far-end fault detection monitor both ports, while 802.3x flow control manages full-duplex traffic.
