Converts Gigabit fiber to copper UTP while delivering up to 30 W PoE power to remote devices over 100 m
The Black Box LPS500AMMSCR3 connects a 10/100/1000 Mbps copper UTP segment to Gigabit multimode fibre while supplying Power over Ethernet to attached devices. It extends Ethernet well beyond the 100-metre copper limit and powers cameras or wireless points where mains outlets are absent.
The unit delivers up to 30 W under the 802.3at standard and includes overcurrent protection, undercurrent detection and minimum-load sensing. Link fault passthrough and far-end fault detection monitor both copper and fibre receivers for signal loss, preventing data transmission over invalid links.
Designed for continuous duty, the converter maintains PoE output and media conversion without thermal throttling during prolonged use. Its 48 VDC power feed over existing CATx cabling simplifies infrastructure while the safety-certified design ensures reliable long-term deployment in security and access-point installations.

Mount the unit, connect multimode fiber to the SC ports, link the copper side with UTP, attach the 48 VDC power adapter, then enable PoE on the copper port so the converter sends up to 30 W to the powered device.
The converter itself has no user-serviceable parts; plan to replace the external 48 VDC power adapter if it fails and verify fiber patch cords remain clean for reliable 1000 Mbps operation.
The PoE power budget of 30 W per port is the first ceiling; the copper link stays at 1000 Mbps and multimode fiber reaches the rated distance, so total connected device draw must not exceed 30 W.
