Web Presenter HD for live streaming

The Blackmagic Design Web Presenter HD is a compact desktop video capturing device built to take any SDI video source and stream it live to the internet. It connects via Ethernet or USB tethering to a smartphone using 5G or 4G mobile data. The unit also works as a USB webcam on Mac, Windows, Linux and Chrome OS for platforms such as Skype, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Twitch and Teams.

Streaming limits at 1080p60 H.264

The device encodes video using the H.264 codec and streams via RTMP at resolutions up to 1080p60. SDI inputs accept 12G, 6G and 3G signals up to UHD 4K, but the streaming output and monitor outputs are capped at 1080p60. Network connectivity is provided by a 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, while USB Type-C serves for webcam use or mobile tethering.

Check SDI sources and monitoring needs

Before ordering, confirm your camera or switcher provides an SDI output compatible with 12G, 6G or 3G standards. Verify that 1080p60 streaming resolution meets your platform requirements. Ensure you have an Ethernet cable or a smartphone with an active 5G or 4G plan for tethering, plus an SDI or HDMI monitor if you want to view the built-in status display with audio meters and trend graphs.

Questions about this item

Should I use the SDI or HDMI monitor output for my preview display?

Both outputs show the same live status and program feed at up to 1080p60, so choose whichever connector matches your monitor.

What streaming resolution and frame rate does the device actually deliver to platforms like YouTube or Twitch?

It encodes H.264 and streams via RTMP at up to 1080p60 over Ethernet or a tethered 5G or 4G phone connection.

Does the USB Type-C port work as a standard webcam on Windows, Mac and Linux without extra drivers?

Yes, the USB Type-C connection presents the stream as a UVC webcam, so any compatible software on Mac, Windows, Linux or Chrome OS recognises it immediately.
