Bluecctv CMR5013 1.3 MP varifocal camera

This Bluecctv CMR5013 security camera uses a 1/3 inch 1.3 MP sensor with a 2.8-12 mm varifocal lens. It has 42 IR LEDs providing night vision up to 120 ft or 35 m. An aluminium housing rated IP66 protects the unit for outdoor use. Power is supplied through a DC 12 V connection.

Practical limits of the IP66 standard

The IP66 rating means the housing is dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets, but it is not rated for continuous immersion. Infrared illumination reaches the stated distance only under clear conditions; fog, rain or obstructions will reduce effective range. The varifocal lens requires manual adjustment to set the desired field of view. A separate 12 V DC power supply and video cabling must be provided as they are not included.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 2.8 mm or 12 mm end of the varifocal lens?

Use 2.8 mm for a wide overview of a yard or car park; slide toward 12 mm when you need tighter detail on a doorway or gate.

What does the 120 ft IR range mean once the camera is mounted?

The 42 IR LEDs illuminate objects up to 35 m in darkness, so a driveway or perimeter stays visible at night without extra lighting.
