5 MP Night-Vision Camera for Raspberry Pi
This 5 MP camera module uses the OV5647 sensor and adds infrared illumination for low-light capture. It connects to Raspberry Pi 4B, 3B+, 3B and 2B boards via the standard CSI interface. An adjustable focus ring lets you set sharpness for the subject distance. Four screw holes provide secure mounting.
Upgrade from basic camera modules
The built-in IR LEDs and automatic light-sensing switch replace separate infrared add-ons for night-time projects. The IR-CUT filter corrects daytime colour shift that plain infrared cameras produce. Photoresistor control toggles the IR illumination without manual intervention. The jump is worth it when you need round-the-clock monitoring without extra wiring.
CSI interface and fixed-focus limits
The module relies on the Pi CSI bus, so cable length and bandwidth are constrained by that connector. Manual focus adjustment cannot track moving subjects automatically. IR illumination range depends on the 3 W LEDs fitted; scenes beyond that distance stay dark. No on-board encoding means the Pi CPU handles all video processing.

Questions about this item
What are the mounting dimensions of the camera module?
The module has four screw holes for attachment to a Raspberry Pi 4B, 3B+, 3B or 2B board.
How do I connect the camera to the Raspberry Pi and what step is often missed?
Connect the ribbon cable to the CSI port on the Pi; the step often missed is enabling the camera interface in raspi-config before use.
How long do the 3 W infrared LEDs last before replacement?
The built-in 3 W infrared LEDs are rated for long-life operation and typically do not require replacement during normal use.
