Aluminium switch shares four USB 2.0 peripherals between two computers with one-button LED control and optional micro-USB power
This aluminium KVM switch lets two PCs share up to four USB 2.0 peripherals with a single button press. It targets users who want to keep a mouse, keyboard, printer and scanner connected to both machines without unplugging cables or configuring network sharing software. The driver-free design works on Windows 10 through XP, Mac OS X, Linux and Chrome OS. A micro-USB power port is provided for demanding peripherals.
The switch presents four downstream ports for devices such as printers, scanners, flash drives, card readers, mice and keyboards. Each host connects via a USB-A-to-A cable, giving a 2.0 link to every attached peripheral. High-draw devices like portable HDDs, SSDs or digital video cameras may need the optional 5 V micro-USB power input; the unit ships without an adapter. Bandwidth is limited to the 2.0 specification, so large file transfers will be slower than on a direct connection.
The metal casing acts as a heatsink, so the switch runs silently without a fan during normal operation. Power draw is negligible when only low-current peripherals are attached; the optional micro-USB port supplies extra current only when a connected device demands it. LED indicators show which computer is active, and the single mechanical button toggles control instantly. No external power supply is required for typical keyboard-and-mouse setups.
