Adds five USB 3.0 ports and a 20-pin internal header for two more, with a SATA 15-pin power connector
This PCI-E expansion card adds five external USB 3.0 ports and one internal 20-pin header for two additional ports. A 15-pin SATA power connector supplies the board, and a Y-cable plus a 4-pin adapter are included for older power supplies. The card fits a standard desktop PCI Express slot.
Suits system builders who need extra SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports on a desktop motherboard with a free PCI-E slot. Not for laptops or small-form-factor systems without a full-size PCI Express slot. Not for users who only have USB 2.0 headers and no SATA or 4-pin power connectors available.
The controller supports up to 5 Gbps per port, with actual throughput limited by the connected device. Five Type-A ports and one 20-pin internal header serve up to seven USB 3.0 devices total. Backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices.

The card includes a Y-cable converting one male 15-pin SATA connector to two female 15-pin SATA connectors and a 4-pin male to dual female 15-pin SATA power cable. You must provide a free PCI Express slot and a SATA or 4-pin power connector from your power supply.
Use the internal 20-pin header to add two front-panel USB 3.0 ports; the five rear ports are ready for external devices. Both operate at up to 5 Gbps and share the same controller, so pick based on where you need the ports.
The 5 Gbps figure is the interface maximum; actual throughput depends on the connected device, cable quality, and system load, so large-file copies will typically run below that ceiling.
