Converts legacy Square Slim-Tip chargers to USB-C with 100 W maximum output, three ports and USB-IF certified Power Delivery
This adapter lets owners of legacy Lenovo square slim-tip chargers power modern USB-C laptops, tablets and phones. It accepts the rectangular tip from older ThinkPad bricks and presents a USB-C male plug plus two additional USB-A ports and a USB-C female port for simultaneous charging.
The converter passes through whatever the connected legacy supply can deliver, up to a ceiling of 100 W. A 60 W brick therefore tops out at 60 W, a 90 W brick at 90 W, and only a 100 W or higher source reaches the rated maximum. The two USB-A ports share 12 W and the extra USB-C female port supplies 15 W, so multi-device loads stay within the brick's continuous capability rather than spiking above it.
It removes the need to buy new USB-C power supplies when migrating from ThinkPad X1 Carbon, T440, T480, T490 or Yoga 900 models to newer USB-C hardware. The jump is worthwhile when the existing square-tip brick is still functional and its wattage meets the new device's requirement; it is not suited for users who have already discarded their legacy adapters or who need more power than their old brick can provide.

The adapter has no fan or moving parts, so it runs silently; any warmth will depend on the charger you connect and the load drawn by your device.
You need a Lenovo Square Slim-Tip charger — 60W or 90W models work, and the adapter will pass through up to that charger's rated output.
Yes, the adapter negotiates USB-PD with the laptop and delivers up to the brick's original 60W or 90W limit, so older ThinkPad chargers remain useful.
