What this receiver does and who it suits

The BOSS AUDIO B06 APT-X adds Bluetooth 4.2 streaming to any stereo system with a 3.5 mm or RCA input. It draws power from a corded electric supply and fits a 1/2 DIN opening. The unit weighs 0.27 pounds and measures 14.33in W x 12.83in H x 9.06in D.

Practical limits of Bluetooth 4.2 streaming

The receiver pairs two smartphones at once for multipoint playback. Latency sits at 40 milliseconds, which is lower than 97 percent of other devices according to the supplier. A green LED shows when 3D Surround is active. Range and codec support follow the Bluetooth 4.2 specification.

The spec that decides fit

Chassis size is 1/2 DIN, so the opening in your dashboard or rack must match that exact footprint. The receiver needs a constant AC power source and an analogue audio input on the target system. If your installation lacks either, this model will not work.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1/2 DIN chassis or a different size for my dashboard?

The unit uses a 1/2 DIN chassis measuring 14.33in wide by 12.83in high by 9.06in deep, so verify your dashboard opening matches those dimensions before buying.

What does the 40 ms aptX Low Latency figure mean when I stream video?

It keeps audio lag at 40 milliseconds, which is below the threshold where lip-sync becomes noticeable, so movies and games stay in sync.

How does Bluetooth 4.2 limit the number of phones I can pair at once?

The receiver supports dual Bluetooth connectivity, letting two smartphones stay paired and stream audio simultaneously.
