Brady Material Control Tags

The Brady 121215 Material Control Tag is a white paper tag with black and red print designed for indoor equipment identification. Each tag measures 5-3/4 inches high by 3 inches wide and includes a 3/8 inch brass grommet with attachment strings. A package contains 100 tags suitable for maintenance, safety or inventory marking.

Replaces damaged or missing tags

These tags replace worn, torn or illegible control tags on boilers, radiators and related HVAC components. The jump is worth it when existing tags no longer meet ANSI Z53.1-1967, ANSI Z535-2006 or OSHA 1910.145 visibility requirements. They are not for buyers who need laminated tags, outdoor-rated materials or tags without pre-printed legend fields.

Simple string attachment

Installation consists of threading the included string through the brass grommet and securing it to the equipment. The write-on surface accepts pen or marker for date and personnel entries. What usually goes wrong is using the tags outdoors where moisture degrades the unlaminated cardstock, or writing with ink that smears on the non-coated surface.

Questions about this item

What size hole do the grommets on these tags accept for mounting?

The brass grommets have a 3/8 in hole size for string or wire attachment.

How do I attach the included strings without tearing the cardstock?

Thread each string through the brass grommet and tie securely; the grommet reinforces the hole so the tag will not rip.

Will the printed legend fade if the tags are used outdoors?

These tags are rated for indoor use only; outdoor exposure is not covered by the ANSI Z535-2006 and OSHA 1910.145 listings.
