The Brainboxes ES-246 connects a single RS232 serial device to a network using a DB9 male connector. It supports data rates up to 1,000,000 baud with 256-byte transmit and 32-byte receive FIFOs. The unit is DIN-rail mountable and measures 28 mm high, 105 mm wide and 106 mm deep. It weighs 109 g and is TAA compliant.

RS232 distance and baud limits

The adapter follows the EIA-RS232 standard for operating distance, so cable length is limited by that specification rather than by Ethernet reach. Maximum baud rate is 1,000,000 with selectable data bits of 5, 6, 7 or 8. No cable is included because the connector is integrated into the housing.
