What This Device Is

The Broox Solar Animal Repellent is an ultrasonic deterrent designed for gardens, yards and farms. It targets cats, squirrels, deer, dogs, raccoons, skunks, rabbits and rodents. The unit activates only when its motion detector senses movement, emitting high-frequency sound and flashing LED light to drive animals away humanely. It is built for outdoor use with an IP65 weatherproof rating.

The Spec That Decides Fit

The IP65 rating confirms the housing resists water splashed from any direction and withstands normal rain, snow and sun. This single figure tells you whether the device can stay mounted outside year-round without additional shelter. If your installation point is exposed to direct downpours or heavy spray, this rating is the threshold that determines suitability.

Behaviour Under Sustained Load

The repellent runs on solar energy collected by the top-mounted panel and can also be topped up via the included USB cord. Continuous operation depends on daily sunlight to recharge the internal battery; extended overcast periods will reduce active time. The maker notes that animals may need up to two weeks to respond consistently, so effectiveness builds over repeated cycles rather than a single burst.

Questions about this item

How does the ultrasonic sound actually drive animals away once the unit is staked in the garden?

The motion detector triggers a high-frequency ultrasonic speaker when an animal enters the detection zone; the sound is uncomfortable for pests but typically inaudible to humans, so they leave the protected area.

What does the IP65 rating mean for everyday outdoor use?

IP65 confirms the housing is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, so normal rain, snow or sprinkler spray will not damage the electronics.

What mounting options come with the repellent for securing it in soil or on a fence?

The unit is designed to be pushed into the ground via its built-in stake; no additional brackets or hardware are mentioned for fence or wall mounting.
