Brother DCP-L2640DW Wireless Compact Monochrome Multi-Function Laser Printer

Compact mono laser for small offices

The Brother DCP-L2640DW combines printing, scanning and copying in one compact device designed for small businesses. It produces black-and-white output at up to 36 ppm and includes a 50-page automatic document feeder for multi-page jobs. Dual-band wireless and Ethernet give flexible network placement, while a USB port allows direct local connection. The Brother Mobile Connect app adds remote print, scan and toner management from a mobile device.

Capacity and daily workload

A 50-page ADF and 36 ppm engine handle regular document batches without constant reloading, while duplex printing cuts paper use for double-sided reports. Scan speeds reach 23.6 ipm in mono and 7.9 ipm in colour, suitable for archiving mixed stacks. Toner options are limited to the TN830 and TN830XL cartridges, so very high-volume users will replace supplies more often. The single paper tray and lack of additional input capacity mean frequent paper refills during heavy days.

Upgrade path and fit

This model replaces a basic single-function laser or an older MFP that lacks wireless networking and an automatic document feeder. The jump is worthwhile when you need mobile printing, secure dual-band Wi-Fi and walk-up copying in a smaller footprint. It is not suited for environments that require colour output, large paper capacities or finishing options such as stapling or hole-punching.
