  • 50,000-page monthly duty cycle handles heavy workloads

Multifunction Laser Printer

The Brother MFC-8710DW combines printing, copying, scanning and faxing in one desktop unit. It produces monochrome output at up to 40 pages per minute with a 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. A 64 MB memory buffer handles print jobs while automatic duplex printing saves paper. Ethernet and wireless LAN give flexible network placement.

Upgrade from Single-Function Devices

This model replaces separate printer, scanner, copier and fax machines for small workgroups. The jump is worth it when daily workflows need fast mono print speeds and walk-up copying at 40 copies per minute. Offices still relying on inkjet hardware for high-volume mono jobs will see lower cost per page. It is not for users who need colour output or high-resolution photo scanning.

Paper Capacity and Duty Cycle

A 300-sheet input tray supports extended print runs without frequent reloading. The monthly duty cycle of 50000 pages provides headroom for busy departments. Standard memory of 64 MB manages typical office documents and scan-to-email tasks. Heavy graphics workloads or complex print streams may exceed the available buffer.

Questions about this item

Does the 300-sheet tray require any rear clearance for paper loading?

The tray pulls out from the front, so only enough front space to extend it fully is needed.

What is the first step after removing the MFC-8710DW from the box that people often skip?

Remove all orange shipping locks and protective tape from the toner cartridge and drum unit before powering on.

Which consumable will need replacement after the starter toner runs out on this 40 ppm device?

Replace the black toner cartridge; the included drum unit is separate and lasts longer.
